We’ve neared the end of the year but it’s only the start of a jam-packed Summer of cricket in Australia. And for the first time ever, viewers will be able to listen to cricket commentary for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Hindi on 7plus.

From playing backyard cricket with family and friends, to filling out stadiums on match days, it’s no secret that Indians are not only huge fans of the sport, but create an enduring community around it.

Channel 7’s collaboration with India rights holders, Star Sports has made this Hindi-language commentary during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2025 possible, with viewers able to watch the action as it happens online on 7plus.

The Test Series starts on Friday, November 22 with India facing Australia in front of a packed Perth Stadium for the West Test from 12.30pm AEDT live and free on Seven and streaming on 7plus Sport.

Legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar is in town for the series, saying in a press statement: “Over the past 15-20 years or so, I think the Australia v India Series has become more iconic. In the 1990s, it was pretty one-sided with Australia beating India quite comfortably.

“In the past 15 years or so, India have stood up. India have been able to get one back against Australia,” he said.

“Winning a Test in Australia was not easy, but India did that. Now, it has become one of the most looked forward to Series in the game.”

Seven commentator Ricky Ponting said: “The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is one of the most fiercely contested series in world cricket” and that now is the time for all eyes to be on India’s Virat Kohli.

“As we get closer to the start of the Test summer, Australia’s team looks more settled and experienced, and despite India winning the past two series here, they are tough to beat at home. With that in mind, I’d lean towards Australia for the series win,” he said.

“As for Virat Kohli, his record in Australia speaks for itself. While he has been far from his best in recent times, if there’s ever a time to turn around his form, it’s now in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.”
