Dilwale, Kalaank and of course, Student of the Year are some of the films Varun Dhawan is most well known for since making his Bollywood debut in 2010. But the Indian actor has now stepped off the big screen and onto the doorstep of Sydney Harbour (well, sort of).
Dhawan is the latest in a string of Bollywood stars to have a wax figure of them showcased at Madame Tussauds Sydney. The 36-year-old’s wax statue arrived at the popular tourist attraction last week, just in time to celebrate the venue’s new Bollywood display.
"To help recognise and celebrate the Holi festival, we're so excited to add Varun Dhawan to the Madame Tussauds Sydney family and unveil our brand-new Bollywood set," said Anika Schmitzer, Operations Manager at Madame Tussauds Sydney.

In a cool red satin shirt, leather vest and jeans combo, Dhawan’s figure strikes the actor’s ultimate dancing pose that will be familiar to fans who’ve seen him bust a move in movies such as Mein Tera Hero and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania.
It turns out a lot of preparation and attention to detail is involved in the creation of these wax statues, with 200 measurements taken during a five-hour sitting process to create this particular figure. After being displayed at Madame Tussauds Delhi, Dhawan’s figure is in great company in Sydney with a lineup of other Indian celebrity statues of Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Diljit Dosanjh and Sachin Tendulkar.
