L'Oreal Paris recently celebrated its Parisian heritage and latest innovations with a luxe celebration in Sydney. Held at Reign inside the Queen Victoria Building, the glamorous event was attended by the likes of local celebrities, beauty professionals, content creators and Draw Your Box (yes, you read that right).
Besides the delicious cheese boards, flowing champagne and endless shades of luscious lipsticks to try on, what I really enjoyed about this event was the diversity in the room – which let's face it, absolutely matters when it comes to makeup and beauty!
From global runways to advertising campaigns and retail makeup aisles, we're gradually seeing a shift towards more cultural diversity in a beauty space that's long been plagued by issues such as colourism, whitewashed beauty standards and a lack of range in shades and textures.
L'Oreal Paris has been known to enlist South Asians such as Aishwarya Rai, Sonam Kapoor and Neelam Gill in the past to be official spokespeople or faces of their marketing campaigns. But last week was a chance for just a brown girl from Sydney to strut her stuff into a L'Oreal Paris event, feel beautiful and confident, and thankfully... not be the only person of colour in the room.
Here's a peek at some of the other South Asians who attended the event.
